Dr. Diego Pérez-Salazar M., FAANA

About Dr. Diego

I don't just treat injuries. I help people move freely again.

I'm an orthopedic specialist with a subspecialty in Sports Surgery and Arthroscopy, focused on knee, shoulder, hip, muscle and joint injuries that limit your daily life, your sport, or simply your peace of mind. I have a strong interest and specific training in cartilage injuries. My philosophy combines minimally invasive surgery, regenerative medicine and a close, honest approach — because no patient should feel like "just another scan" or "just another surgery."

Every injury has a different story. Some want to return to competition; some just want to run again without pain, carry their kids, walk comfortably or rebuild trust in their body. The goal is always the same: helping you return to what you love, in the safest and smartest way possible.

My training includes Universidad Anáhuac and Centro Médico ABC, complemented by international training at world-leading centers such as the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford and Clínica CEMTRO in Madrid (an authorized FIFA medical center), where I worked closely with elite athletes and complex sports and joint surgery cases.

Today I apply that experience to deliver modern, precise and personalized treatments, always with one clear goal: less fear, less pain and better results so you can get back to movement.

Patients back in motion

01 · Philosophy

Surgery is a tool, not a destination.

Every patient arrives with a different story — an amateur athlete, a professional, someone who simply wants to walk without pain. My job is to understand that story, deliver the most precise diagnosis possible and choose — when necessary — the least invasive intervention that solves it.

Arthroscopic technique, international training and closeness with every person are the three lines that sustain my practice.

02 · Orthobiology

Your body
already knows how to heal.

Not every injury needs surgery. There's a middle ground — regenerative medicine — where the body, well guided, learns to repair itself.

  1. I

    From your own blood

    Platelet-rich plasma

We concentrate the growth factors your body already produces and return them exactly where the tissue needs to heal. Zero foreign material, zero rejection.

Tendon · Ligament · Early cartilage

  2. II

    Joint lubrication

    Hyaluronic acid

We restore the viscosity of synovial fluid so the joint glides quietly again. It relieves mechanical pain and can postpone the surgical conversation for years.

    Knee · Hip · Shoulder

  3. III

    Advanced biology

    Biological therapies

Cutting-edge protocols — orthobiologic and cellular — designed to modulate inflammation and stimulate regeneration before considering the operating room.

    Chronic injuries · Early osteoarthritis

"Surgery can wait. Biology, on the other hand, is already working inside you — you just have to listen to it in time."

03 · Ultrasound

See the movement,
not just imagine it.

Dr. performing a musculoskeletal ultrasound exam in the office

Musculoskeletal ultrasound is now a fundamental tool in my daily practice. It lets me evaluate injuries in real time, right in the office — dynamically, precisely, and without radiation.

It doesn't replace the clinical exam: it complements and strengthens it.

Beyond aiding diagnosis, it improves the precision of injections and guided procedures.

I'm certified in musculoskeletal ultrasound because I believe in orthopedics that is more precise, modern, and patient-centered.

"Today, ultrasound is to me what the stethoscope represents for other specialties."

02 · Manifesto

Sports medicine must adapt to the patient, not the patient to medicine.

01

Prevention is also high performance.

A prepared athlete competes better, recovers better and lasts longer.

02

Beyond the study lies the patient's story.

04

The best option isn't the same for everyone. Personalized medicine with real goals.

Warmth

Empathy

Results

Trust is also part of recovery.

Results matter. So does how we get there.

Every patient has a story. Every treatment must be unique.

07 · FAQ

What I'm
asked most
before visiting.

If your question isn't here, message me directly. I'd rather answer twice than have you arrive with the wrong idea.

  1. /01How long does the consultation last?

Don't worry. Your visit deserves time, attention and a clear explanation. It will last as long as you need.

  2. /02What do I need for my consultation?

Your previous studies can be very helpful. X-rays, MRIs, CT scans and recent medical notes give us a more complete assessment.

  3. /03Do you work with insurance companies?

Yes, we work with the main national and international insurers. The team helps you with scheduling and authorization letters so you can focus on recovering.

  4. /04Do you see out-of-town patients?

Constantly. We coordinate the consultation, studies and — if needed — surgery in a single visit to Mexico City, with video follow-up so the trip pays off.

  5. /05Is telemedicine available?

Absolutely. Whether for a first assessment, second opinions, study review or post-op follow-up.

  6. /06How long does recovery take?

Every recovery has its own pace. My job is to guide you with a clear, realistic plan and no false promises.

  7. /07Where do you operate?

I usually work at Centro Médico ABC Campus Santa Fe, recognized for its high surgical and technological standards. We always look for the best hospital option for each patient, adapting to their needs and insurance without compromising quality or safety.

  8. /08Do you use ultrasound during the consultation?

Yes, I use musculoskeletal ultrasound during the consultation. It is a quick and dynamic tool that helps to better understand your injury from the very first moment.
